Manipal Astrostatistics School
Start Date: August 10, 2024
End Date: August 15, 2024
A significant component of today’s astrophysics research involves processing data, fitting models to data and interpreting the results. With large databases and more and more complex models becoming the norm, the role of statistics in estimating uncertainties and in the interpretation of results is increasing exponentially. There are also new analysis tools involving neural nets and machine learning that demand greater familiarisation for students, PDFs and faculties.
This Astrostatistics School is designed to equip PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career faculty with a robust statistical foundation. The program features expert-led sessions from renowned statisticians in India and abroad, offering hands-on training through real-world astrophysical applications. Participants will gain critical insights and practical experience, preparing them to tackle the challenges of modern astrophysics research.
