Alumna’s Heartfelt Homecoming Inspires New MITians
Orientation Day 2.
July 14, 2025
On the second day of the Orientation Program at MIT Manipal, held on 12th July 2025, alumna and nanomaterials scientist Dr. Albeera Sharma, a Chemical Engineering (2004–2008) graduate and currently Senior Director – R&D Strategy and Programs at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Hyderabad, addressed the incoming batch in a talk that struck a deeply emotional chord.
Reflecting on her journey from an introverted student to a confident professional, she credited MIT as a brand and the enduring friendships built here for shaping her personal and academic path—from uncertainty to earning a PhD in the US.
Dr. Sharma urged students to seize every learning opportunity, uphold the MIT brand, and prioritize collaboration over competition. Recalling late-night study sessions, project deadlines, and the bonds that continue to guide her, she emphasized that resilience, curiosity, and belief in oneself are key to long-term success.
Her parting message: Step out of your comfort zone, work hard, party harder, and never stop learning. Quoting Harivansh Rai Bachchan, she inspired the audience to embrace their identity and future with confidence: “Koshish karne walon ki kabhi haar nahi hoti.”
